Inspire, Motivate, Educate

Shortly after turning 40 years old, I walked into a weight room and was instantly hooked on lifting weights. Soon afterwards I was participating in group exercise, learning how to run and buying my first bike. Before I knew it, at age 45, I completed my first triathlon. To my surprise, in 2007, 2008 and 2009 I finished the seasons first place in women's age group 45-49 and second place Masters in the N.C. Endurance/Trysports Triathlon Series.

I soon became one of those instructor-wannabes who always stood at the front of the class looking for the next challenge. Four years ago I earned my indoor cycling instructor certification and began to obtain experience in group fitness instruction. But I didn't actually become a personal trainer until later in 2007, when I found myself looking for the next challenge. I knew the rewards would be twofold: I love helping others and I love exercise.

As an ACE-certified personal trainer, I enjoy working with people with a range of abilities, including individuals re-learning basic modalities after some sort of trauma, older adults looking for a safe and effective fitness program and athletes looking to continuously heighten their skills. The satisfaction of helping others take steps toward their goals - whether it be running their first 5K or re-learning how to safely descend a set of stairs - is my goal as a personal trainer.
